Past and present clients tell us that it’s refreshing to work with a reliable construction company that operates within a strict values system based on integrity and honesty.

Lance Kirby

Lance founded Kirby Construction Co in the midst of the Great Recession. He’s a Northern Nevada native and Sparks High School graduate who got his start in construction as a laborer on a framing crew in Las Vegas back in 1993. Since then, he’s used his knowledge and experience to work his way up through the custom home builder ranks. Lance is one of our top Reno home builders. He’s learned all aspects of custom home building alongside some of the best craftsman the trade has to offer.

Lance has watched over many custom home builds and remodels as a superintendent. This is where attention to detail has always been and still is paramount. He prides himself on giving you 100% with honesty and integrity with everything that his company does, all while making you feel like you are a part of the Kirby Construction family.

Kurt Vanclute

Kurt is a Bay Area transplant who’s lived in Northern Nevada since he was young. He’s been in the high-end residential construction market since 2000, spending 18 years between two employers.

He learned the trade from some of the best carpenters and construction managers in the area. These mentors helped instill in him a desire to pursue meticulous details, ensure quality construction, and work hard. With Kurt, there are no early outs or casual Fridays. Frequently, he spends the last Friday evening on a project polishing all the details and getting everything as close to perfect as possible.

Kurt loves a challenge. He recognizes that for a client, their home is their sanctuary. Every project deserves a positive attitude, application of creative ideas and skills, and proper communication to surpass expectations. Kurt ultimately takes pride in happy satisfied clients – their joy is the icing on the cake.

Melanie Heilig

Melanie’s father was a general contractor in California, so she’s grown up on job sites amongst custom home builders. She began doing grunt work and since then she’s always had a “hands-on” approach to everything from tile, painting, flooring installations and cabinet installation to bookkeeping and estimating.

In 2000 Melanie moved to San Francisco and studied interior design at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising while working in lighting design and sales. She later moved back to Truckee in 2002 and began working as an interior designer for High Camp Home who later promoted to lead designer.

Several years later she relocated to Reno and joined the design team at M Home, working there for several years before opening her own design firm, Strata Design Group.

Following that, in 2013 she moved to Portland to get back into the construction side of custom home building projects and was hired on as Estimator/Project Manager for JDL Development. Here she worked on large $300K and $1million projects for Nike executives, the owners of Columbia Sportswear, Intel etc.

In 2016 she joined Kirby as Project Manager and Estimator.
